Building Connectivity
Building Connectivity is the physical connection between two separate buildings with separate foundations. This condition is called an ‘expansion joint’. Expansion joints between building foundation walls can vary in width from just a few inches to more than a foot. This gap between buildings allows each structure to move independently while being connected and performing as one single building. Every large scale commercial complex has expansion joints throughout the building. These joints are usually filled with some type of rubber, flexible gasket. This gasket must also work in conjunction with some type of system connected throughout the building area.
Using a PlySolutions foam as part of an expansion joint is a very effective way to provide a waterproof, flexible, durable, long lasting addition to this system.
Case where 401 and 402 Hydrofoam can be used:
- 10th street plaza, Department of Energy loading dock
- Below grade parking garages.
- Below grade office or maintenance areas.
- Hospital connections between clinical and administrative buildings.
Case where 401 and 402 Hydrofoam can be used:
- 402 Hydrophobic foam creates a thick layer.
- Reduction of weight of vegetative overburden.
- Preservation of structural integrity of below grade structures by reducing soil load up to 50%.
- Flexible connections, lateral and vertical movement will still allow Plysolutions foam products to connect to materials.
- Easily adheres to rubber, vinyl, stone, brick, metal and neoprene/oil based products.
